Art Deco .40 Carat Old European Cut Diamond Halo Engagement Ring
Vintage Art Deco diamond and sapphire halo engagement ring. A dazzling old European cut diamond is surrounded by a platinum-topped and milgrain-trimmed halo of ten calibre cut sapphires. The platinum-shoulders feature a lovely split-shank design reminiscent of a maple seed pod, with a single rectangular cut sapphire each at the center. The shoulders are joined to a gold shank with two incised notches to delineate them. The profile is simple, with soft edges, and a single slim horizontal cutout line to let in the light. A delightful halo ring with perfect proportions and a lovely shoulder detail. The central diamond is approx. .40 carats, I color, I1 clarity, eye clean. Twelve sapphire accents total approx. .70 carats, two with very small chips, not visible to the naked eye. No hallmarks, but tests as platinum and 10K gold. Circa 1910s. The ring is in good vintage condition, with some minor wear, commensurate with age.
